We believe women can do it all, but not all alone and not all at once. We’ve been asked to work within a system that was created for and by men. A system that has valued competition, speed and profits over the collective good. Matria is on the forefront of ushering in a new era. One where the divine feminine is celebrated and embodied by individuals and corporations. The system is not serving women. It’s time to build a new model. A model that empowers women to share our gifts with the world and lead authentically as we were meant to.
I started my career on the corporate track, earning a CPA and advancing through an endless series of promotions and projects until I hit the low point of my career: ringing the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange. What was meant to be a career highlight shed light on the lack of alignment in my life.
My inner voice was screaming for balance – a word that meant very little to me at the time – and I listened. I left my job, dove into what I loved (Italy! travel! sailing! food!) and coached myself through significant personal transformations. This journey led me back to myself and back to my purpose – to empower and invest in women.
Matria was born from the inner knowing that we need societal shifts to support women in the workplace. When women lead, we all win. Yet the current system is not serving us. Women receive only 2% of venture capital dollars, yet companies run by women outperform those led by men. In the time I’ve spent exploring this disconnect, it’s led me to an important realization. The system – as it’s currently built – the system I was trying to fit into for so long – is not serving women. It’s time to build a new model. A model that empowers women to share their gifts with the world and lead authentically as we were meant to.
That’s why I created Matria.
